It was a fun little experiment. I knew that people in this town were searching for things to do. I thought I could fill the void with a site that listed all the major events and happenings in Wichita Falls, TX. I knew our town had a lot of great opportunities awaiting.
It was actually a success partially. We had posted 72 events in all mostly during May and June of 2012. For that we had over 690 unique visitors and many more pageviews. I immediately got search engine love for the events and for some of the bigger ones I saw significant increases in traffic.
But then it was also a failure. There was a LOT happening in Wichita Falls. I wanted to put it all up but soon got overwhelmed as I found more and more places that were posting events. Within the first month I knew this site would take more time then I could handle.
I've toyed with the idea of hireing someone and making a side business out of it. However with my own business not being as successful as I would have liked this seemed like a pipedream.
So I decided to take it down, rather then risk the security holes it would leave if I didn't maintain it.
I leave you with the original banner images on the site. Each links to its original source. I found all my banner images using flikr's great search. Except for the picture of the falls which was my own and thus unlinked.
If you are interested in the domain or perhaps have the time to realize the dream of Fallspage please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,
Anthony Taylor
